No, you can only enter one photo of each child.
Sometimes - if it adds to the overall impression of the child's photo. However, too much costume or too much makeup is not preferable. Ensure that your child's face is not obscured. Please note: professional photographs will not be accepted.
Your child’s photo will appear on our website for voting. If your child places in the contest, then your photo will be published in The Mom & Caregiver magazine, on our website, and possibly in The Mom & Caregiver promotional literature/social media.
When the contest is over, winners are notified by email/telephone. Photos and a list of winners will be published on our social media outlets and webpage.
GET CLOSE! When taking pictures indoors, always use your flash; this will eliminate dark faces and shadows. Keep an eye out for mirrors and windows to avoid unwanted reflections. When taking shots in the sunlight, try to get the sun behind you and slightly off to the side to avoid lens flare, and to avoid your subjects squinting into the sunlight.
LIGHTING: Taking pictures of a couple of kids looking in your direction (let alone smiling) can lead to some frustrating moments! When you’re yelling at kids to “smile at the camera!!” it can take some fun out of the event. Get your kids to look at you and scream and yell. It’s annoying for sure but it will look like they are laughing in the photos!
LITTLE ONES: Zoom in or move in as close to your subject as possible. This eliminates a lot of clutter around your subject.
STAND ALONE! Send pictures of your child only. It is easier to judge if there are no other adults/people/crowds in the picture. Props are okay but the more there are, the less your child will stand out.
MAKE IT CLEAR! Avoid red-eye in the picture you send. Please stay away from sending photos that are blurry or hard to recognize. Close up, clear pictures are the best. Natural, candid shots are very interesting and encouraged.
