The weather is getting warmer and our vendors are full of Easter-themed goodies to help complete your meal, set your table and entertain your little ones! If you’re looking for a delicious roast ham, look no further than Chris’ Country Cuts and Mark’s Fine Meats. You’ll find fresh produce for the roasted carrots, scalloped potatoes and stuffing needs at Havaris Family Produce and Doris Family Produce. Swing by The Chocolate Factory for all the hosting gifts and décor -including the cutest stuffed rabbits and baby chicks! Bloomers and Forget Me Not Flowers have all the spring classics – tulips, primrose and, if you’re lucky, forget-me-nots! A trip to the outdoor farmer’s market is a definite must as the sun starts to creep in and the birds start singing.
Our Outdoor Farmer’s Market is a dynamic, cultural community centrepiece of downtown London. The energy you’ll experience at the market on a sunny Saturday morning is truly unmatched. While browsing through local produce, baked goods and fresh flowers, you’ll hear the sounds of local artists singing, strumming their guitars and engaging with marketgoers. Spring is a time when most of us are coming out of hibernation after the long, cold winter, and a trip to the market is a great way to get excited about new recipes and new flowers blooming.
There are many reasons to support local but farmer’s markets, in particular, offer a way to eat sustainable, fresh food and a place to begin new traditions. Going to local farmer’s markets and cooking in the company of friends and family is a fond memory that becomes passed down throughout generations. In addition, going to the market as a family becomes an opportunity to ask questions to local farmers, spend some extra time soaking up vitamin D, and have quality time sampling fresh, local produce and baked goods. Farmers are more than happy to answer questions and engage in conversation regarding where your food comes from, promoting health and food education for the whole family.
