Baking Bread Together
Baking with little ones is a fun way to slow down, build independence, and fill your home with yummy smells. Here’s a simple bread recipe that’s Montessori-inspired and kid-friendly!
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 Tbsp Greek yogurt
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Encourage your child to measure and mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Sifting the flour into the bowl helps develop coordination, concentration, and control of movement.
- Add milk and yogurt — stir slowly and notice the texture change!
- Spoon into a greased muffin tin or small loaf pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes, until golden. Let it cool and then enjoy!
Tips for Grown-Ups
- Let the child scoop, pour, and stir — it builds confidence.
- Talk about the textures and smells.
- Muffin tins = faster cooling and kid-sized portions.
Remember: It’s not about perfect bread— it’s about sharing time, laughs, and the joy of creating something together!
