Meet Ethan!

Born at just 27 weeks and 3 days, Ethan has faced more challenges in his 10 years than most do in a lifetime—but he meets each one with strength and a smile.

Shortly after his first birthday, we were called to what we thought was a discharge planning meeting. Instead, we were told Ethan would likely never go home unless under palliative care. It was a heartbreaking moment. During that time, the hospital provided us with incredible support, including treasured photos taken by Cynthia Bendle. So when we had photos done for this magazine cover, by none other than Cynthia Bendle of One12 Photography herself, it brought a wave of powerful emotions—reminding us just how far Ethan has come.

Ethan is pure joy. He lights up every room with his bright smile, constant clapping, and endless positivity. Whether you’re a longtime friend or meeting him for the first time, he’s your biggest cheerleader.

Though his early years were filled with frequent hospitalizations, Ethan’s health has steadily improved thanks to the outstanding care and support of his medical team—and the unwavering love of everyone who helps him thrive.
