Our patients with special needs are extremely near and dear to our hearts. Dr. Ari and his exceptional team understand that when we start early on a healthy dental care routine, your child’s growth,  development and a healthy smile will last a lifetime. Our recommendation for the first dental visit is age one, or first tooth eruption. Dr. Ari treats each of our patients with a compassionate and personalized approach to their dental needs. 

Dr. Ari has ensured that each of his team members are trained in recognizing and understanding the behaviors of our patients with special needs, and the proper techniques for effective communication. Understanding your child’s individual needs will allow us to communicate our treatment strategies in detail. Our team will use simple language and visual aids to explain the type of dental procedure your child may need. We are very patient and allow you and your child time to understand the treatment required. We know that scheduling appointments is also another important step to alleviate anxiety. We will do our best to accommodate appointment times as necessary for comprehensive treatment.

Many children with special needs are sensitive to touch, light, sound and motion. We will discuss with you how to best approach your child. At Ari Pediatric Dentistry, we know that extra care and comfort is a necessity. We offer gentle treatment options tailored individually for each patient and remain constantly aware of your child so that we know they are comfortable during treatment. We create a calming environment with minimal distractions. We will provide a sensory friendly environment using noise cancelling headphones or fidget toys. 

Ari Pediatric Dentistry implements different programs and strategies for cooperation and encourages continuing expectations for future dental procedures. As always, we encourage you and or the child’s caregiver to stay during the dental appointment for support. By developing a supportive environment and using individualized strategies, Ari Pediatric Dentistry will provide effective care for special needs patients, ensuring a positive experience for your child and the child and their caregivers.
