A Note from our Cover Kid’s Mom

Christine and I are two girls who fell in love and embarked on the journey of having a family. After a bumpy road full of many tears and emotions, we now have our beautiful daughter, Blaire.

Christine and I always say that we are so glad that we are raising our daughter in the world today. It must have been much harder to be together and raise a child even just a decade ago. The world has made a lot of progress for the LGBTQ+ community but there is still a lot of progress that needs to be made.

Blaire is your typical three and a half year old. She is full of fire, sass and attitude while also full of love, compassion and empathy. Oh, and she is full of questions. So many questions! Then again, what three and a half year old isn’t?

We have never been the type to shy away from any of her questions, especially the ones about our family. We are a family that believes that diversity is what makes this world such a wonderful and unique place. We have always had open and loving conversations with Blaire about our family dynamic. Blaire loves to tell anyone that will listen that two moms are better than one!

As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child and Blaire is so lucky to be part of the most incredible village. Her village is filled with moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends and in Blaire’s world, they all love her the same and our differences don’t matter, only the love between us does.

As two moms raising a child together, we can only hope that the world continues to become more inclusive, understanding and accepting of all families that come in all different shapes and sizes. We are proud of our family, but we live our life in a way that shows Blaire our family is just as “normal” as the next. And who gets to decide what normal is anyway?!
