Getting Sunny at the Market!

School is out, and summer is in! No summer is complete without a few trips to the Market during our liveliest time of year! Summer at the Market is festival season, and you won’t want to miss out on all the amazing events we have planned – from Multicultural Sundays at the Market to our returning Taco Fest, there’s something for everyone! With the sun shining, live music and delicious treats to snack on, there’s a vibe like no other in the summer months here at the Market. Our events always aim to showcase local talent, the diversity of our city and the fabulous cuisine we have here in London.

And don’t forget about our free weekend cooking demonstrations! Every Saturday from 11am-12pm and Sunday from 12pm-1pm, local chefs and foodies demonstrate how to cook some of their favourite dishes! The class is a relaxed environment where you’re free to ask questions, and there are always samples at the end. In the past, we’ve tasted bacon, leek & cheddar quiches, cauliflower & potato curry, vanilla cake with buttercream icing, and so much more! The classes are open to all ages, and they’re a great opportunity to learn new techniques and flavours. You’ll find so many incredible summer dishes in the coming months, so don’t miss out on the chance to connect with our community and try tasty home-cooked meals!

The start of a new season also means a change in fresh produce. At our Saturday Farmers’ Market, you’ll find the freshest blueberries, peaches, watermelon and many healthy snacking options. You’ll also find crisp sugar snap peas, asparagus and corn, perfect for roasting and throwing in salads. One of my favourite parts of summer fruits and veggies is just how multipurpose they are – from citrus cocktails/mocktails to berry pies, salads and fresh-pressed juices, there are so many different uses! There’s no better reason to have a picnic outdoors than the arrival of summer air and a basket full of market goods.
