Grandma’s Mac and Cheese

1 tablespoon margarine
1 tablespoon flour
1 1/2 cup elbow macaroni
2 cups milk
1 cup old cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper


1 – cook macaroni according to instructions on package
2 – melt margarine in saucepan on medium heat. Add flour and stir until bubbling
3 – gradually add milk and stir until smooth and thickened (doesn’t have to be really thick)
4 – add cheese and stir until melted
5 – blend in seasoning (salt and pepper)
6 – drain macaroni and rinse in warm water.
7 – add macaroni to cheese sauce
8 – grease baking dish and put Mac and cheese in.
9 – sprinkle extra grated cheese on top and bake @ 350 for half an hour
