Happy Father’s Day!!!

“A father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way.” – unknown

It’s the month to celebrate those guiding lights – those Dads, Fathers, Papas, Stepdads, Papis, Grandpas and special men who make such a difference in our lives. Let’s start with a celebration through the eyes of children. Join seven and nine year old, Nico and Luca, as they share what makes their Dad and Papa silly, loving and just plain fun (page 11)! And get your heart warmed by single mom, Lyndsay Campbell, this month – she writes a beautiful and selfless letter to single dads on page 20, praising them for stepping up and showing up in amazing ways.

If the way to your man’s heart is through his stomach, then don’t miss our Grillin’ Time article. Lamb skewers dipped in tzatziki, pesto chicken breasts or garlic veggies will flip his lid, so flip the lid of your BBQ open and turn to page 12 for these great Father’s Day feast ideas. Plus start his day off right with a cute breakfast recipe the kiddos can make. Put a heart-shaped spin on Egg in a Hole on page 14.

Don’t forget to honour and observe these other amazing June events:

National Indigenous People’s Day – see the link on our Events page to find out more about this important day and year-round support.

The first day of summer – June 21st is also the longest day of the year so get out there and enjoy!

The last day of school – congrats to all the kiddos who made it through another tough (and hopefully wonderful) year!

Pride month – happy Pride to all those who are celebrating and supporting – Love Always Wins!

Brain Injury Awareness month – It was such a joy to meet Blake, this month’s cover kid. She’s rolling with the punches, and holding a blue flower in honour of Brain Injury Awareness month. Learn more about Blake’s story from her fabulous mom, Lindsay, on page 6. Plus learn about Walker Soccer, an incredible accessible sports league Lindsay started for children ages 4-12 on page 21.
