In the Merry, Merry Month of May

April showers bring May flowers. Do you like to garden, grow things, help with work in your yard?

Luca: I like helping my dad to plant the garden but I don’t like pulling weeds. Last year I tried to mow the lawn. Maybe this year it will be easier.

Nico: I like to pick the vegetables off the plants in the garden like beans, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers – yum!

Your beautiful family is made up of two Dads and two kids. We’d love to know – do you celebrate Mother’s Day at your house and how?

Luca: We send cards to our donor and surrogate every year. We also call our grandmas and celebrate with our great aunt who helps us out a lot. She takes us to school, plays with us, and is super silly!

Nico: Instead of giving presents and cards to a mom, I give them to my grandmas and to my Zizi (she is my great-aunt). I give them lots of hugs and kisses!!

The Victoria Day long weekend marks the beginning of “summer” for many people. Does your family do anything special to start off the season?

Luca: At the start of summer, we get ready for lots of Pride activities and we open our pool. I miss swimming!

Nico: We like to make slushy drinks and we open the pool so we can swim in it. I like to splash with big cannonballs!

Meet our newest Kid Zone writers, 9 and 7 year old brothers Luca and Nico. Each month, they’ll be sharing perspectives on life as a child sees it.
