I’VE HAD MY CHLOROPHYLL OF FUN!

Let’s decorate our own t-shirts! And let’s do it by pounding plants with a hammer! Sound like the kind of craft your kids would love? Here’s how:

Step One – Collect leaves (we used fern but you can experiment with any green leaf).

Step Two – Lay your white t-shirt on a hard surface, and place a piece of cardboard inside it between the layers.

Step Three – Lay your leaves in a pattern on the shirt. Tape them down slightly so they don’t move around. Place a piece of wax paper over everything.

Step Four – Use a hammer to pound over the plant leaves. You’ll have to pound pretty hard. Peel back the plants to see if it’s left a good green impression; if not, lay it back down and keep pounding.

Step Five – You can flip your shirt over and do the other side if you’d like. Just make sure the cardboard stays in the middle to prevent the green colour from going right through.

Step Six – Wear your unique shirt with pride, and get ready for people to ask how you made it! Wash your plant-pounding shirt inside out with cold water and a mild detergent.
