Let’s Answer Some Daunting Questions

Hey parents – we’ve got some questions for you!

“Do you speak Parentese?”

“Do you apologize to your kids?”

“What age is the right age for a cell phone?”

“Do you know what STEAM means?”

“Do you smoke pot?”

If you find this list of seemingly unrelated questions a bit daunting, and you find your nerves are on high, then you NEED our November issue. We tackle this wide array of parenting questions and more, reaching out to experts, so you don’t have to.

First off – what is Parentese? A language from an exotic location? Kind of. Parentese is another word for “baby talk” – that high-pitched, sing-songy speech we use with infants. Is it good or bad for our children’s development? Find out from our Neighbourhood Speech Pathologist, Mo, on page 10.

“I’m sorry Junior!” Do these words leave your mouth, or is it an “I made a mistake as a parent but would never admit it” kind of situation? Share in these trying times with fellow papa, Frank, on page 12.

Let’s talk preteens for a bit. Are you in “cell hell” trying to figure out the right age to buy that mobile for your minor? And do you know what STEAM means (hint: it’s a major part of their schooling right now). Don’t panic – we have the deets for you on pages 18 and 11.

Lastly, we’re not here to judge. We’re not asking about your weed habits to spread word around town. We’re asking because you need to be aware of the additional childhood safety practices required if there’s marijuana in your home. Learn more on page 6.

So let’s all band together as a group of fellow parents to support each other. It’s what we do here at The Mom & Caregiver! We’ve got your back and you’ve got ours. Let’s make our way through the parenting jungle together, tackling one question after another to raise an amazing group of young people in this wonderful but weird world.
