Love in Five Words

We wanted to dig a little deeper into the concept of love (deeper than the cards, chocolates and stuffed bears you typically see at this time of the year). So we asked some friends, family, neighbours and co-workers to give us five words that mean LOVE to them. We were touched by the answers they gave us.

God, trust, authenticity, vulnerability and best friend (this one’s mine!).

Assistant editor, Melissa, said “trust, comfort, adventure, support and joy”.

Designer, Vlado, said “family, trust, forgiving, comfort, support”.

Our cover mom, Lindsay, said “trust, appreciate, respect, happiness and cherish”.

Friends and family shared these:

exciting, beautiful, terrifying, scary, forever

friendship, trust, acceptance, loyalty, forgiving

different for everyone on earth

devotion, loyalty, passion, trust, bliss

We even asked some teenagers (who of course wanted to remain anonymous):

care, support, warmth, friends and family

understanding, comfort, happy, friend and special

If you’re looking to find your five words this month, look no further than our February issue. You’ll learn about the best kind of love (self-love) in two different articles from Nurse Practitioner Becky (page 15) and Professional Speaker Sara (page 17). We’ll talk about the F word (not that one!) on page 8 where dad, Daniel, shares his journey with faith. And you’ll find a recipe everyone will love on page 14 – Valentine’s Day Oreo Chocolate Balls, anyone?

Our wish for you this month is that you find love in its many forms – not just romantic love but self-love, the love of family, neighbourly love, the love of friends. “Love makes your soul crawl out of its hiding place.” (Zora Neale Hurston) So get out there and experience it all!
