Play is the Work of a Child
Why do you think it’s so important for kids your age to play?
Luca: It’s important for kids my age to play for exercise, entertainment and socializing – depending on what you’re doing.
Nico: Playing is important because toys I play with are fun and I learn from playing.
What was your favourite toy when you were younger, and what is your favourite thing to play now?
Luca: When I was younger, my favourite toy was my stuffy Rafael from the Ninja Turtles. Now, my favourite things to play are video games.
Nico: When I was little, I liked to play with my Thomas train set. Now, I love to play with Bakugan and Lego.
Do you think it’s important to work your mind AND body when you play?
Luca: For me, yes. But if you do too much physical or mental play, you’ll need a break.
Nico: Yes, because it makes me smarter.
Is it important to play indoors AND outdoors?
Luca: Yes, outdoors is good for fresh air and exercise. Indoors, we like to play board games or video games.
Nico: Yes, indoors because I have more fun and outdoors because we all need some fresh air.
