Proud of Papa and Full of Pride

What do you get when you take a happy and curious three year old and tie helium balloons to her braids? A load of giggles and laughs! A fun month calls for a fun cover photo, and we did just that.

It’s Pride month and Father’s Day and it’s time to celebrate. But it’s not just our front cover (complete with Pride-coloured balloons!) that’s ready to party. Our June issue is full of stories from families of all kinds.

Why does Pride matter? Frank Emanuele explains that “Celebrating Pride with your family is a chance to spend quality time together and discuss core family values of inclusivity and diversity.”  Find out more great reasons to take part (plus the shocking suicide rates of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth) on page 12.

“Who gets to decide what normal is anyway?!” That’s the fabulous question asked by our cover kid’s mom in her beautiful story on page 6. Any fairytale that begins with “Christine and I are two girls who fell in love and embarked on the journey of having a family.” is a must-read in my opinion.

If you need a laugh this month, and you’re sick of your Dad’s jokes, there’s no better place to turn than an article written by two 11-year-old boys. Our Kid Zone experts, Charlie and Harrison have listed their faves, and I must admit there are some great ones I’ve never even heard before. So move aside Dads and find out what car a sheep drives and how to throw a party in outer space on page 11.

If you’re struggling to find dear old Dad a fabulous gift this Father’s Day, search no more! Whether your Dad (or husband, or uncle, or grandpa, or man in your life) is distinguished, or outdoor-loving, or a guy on-the-go, our page 15 article will help you find a “Plant-Powered Cologne”  to gift him. And guess what? Each of these gift ideas is vegan, non-toxic and cruelty-free!

We hope your June makes you proud of papa and full of Pride. Best wishes to all the kiddos finishing up their school year, and a safe and happy summer to all. Thanks again to all the families who are a part of The Mom & Caregiver family!
