Put a Spring in Your Step!

Spring is JUST around the corner, officially arriving on the 19th, and longer days and milder temperatures have us dreaming of all the wonderful things spring has to offer.

Cleaning up our yards and garden preparation is typically top of the list for many of us. Planning what we want to grow later in spring and into summer, such as wild flowers and veggie gardens, is a joy after making it through a messy winter. Involving our little ones from the beginning stages is important as they truly benefit from gardening. Along with physical skills (digging dirt, grasping tools, pulling the hose, dropping tiny seeds), there are lots of other great benefits. Kids involved in gardening gain healthy eating habits, organizational skills, STEM learning and stress relief.

If you’re looking for other ways to get outside with the littles this season, try:

– blowing bubbles

– flying a kite

– collecting and painting rocks

– playing hopscotch

– washing your car

– dancing in the rain

– jumping in puddles

– learning to jump rope

– drawing with chalk

– bird watching

– reading outside

– rolling down a hill

– stargazing

– watching the sunset

This month also brings March Break, which is an exciting time for families. For those of us not jet-setting, there are always lots of local activities planned for the week throughout the city, including Featherfields’ very own March Break classes!

Our full list of classes and March Break activities are on our website and social media – be sure to check them out at www.featherfields.com.
