Sizzling Summer Reads

What were some of your favourite story books that you can recommend for our youngest readers?

 

Charlie – One of my favorite books that I remember my parents reading to us since we were little is On The Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman. I used to love falling asleep after my mom read the story to us. It reminds me how special we are to our parents.

 

Harrison – Anything by Robert Munch. I remember my mom read Thomas’ Snowsuit so many times before we started kindergarten. We practised tying our shoes and getting ready for school so much before we ACTUALLY started school!

 

What are some of your favourite novels for 11 year olds?

 

Charlie – We both love reading graphic novels and have since we were in grade 2 or 3. I loved the Dog Man series by Dav Pilkey. He also wrote Captain Underpants which is hilarious! Right now I am reading the Percy Jackson And The Olympians series by Rick Riordan. I love how the story includes Greek Mythology, and I can totally relate to what the main characters are dealing with in life.

 

Harrison – We both loved reading graphic novels for a while. I was really into The Bad Guys by Aaron Blabey and we just watched the first movie of the series that came out a few weeks ago. It was awesome and better than I thought it would be. Right now I am reading the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. Artemis is not the good guy at the beginning of the series but he changes and evolves into a good guy as you read more of the series. I can hardly wait to read the Fowl Twins because it’s about his younger twin brothers.

 

How about Mom and Dad? What are they reading right now?

Our mom is reading The Storyteller by Dave Grohl because she is a huge Foo Fighters Fan, and our dad is reading The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.
