The Prickly Pickle Company

Shelley is a small town girl and the founder and creator of The Prickly Pickle Company. She’s been dishing out and serving up sass since the moment she was able to speak. She’s a mom to two adult children who have inherited her love for sarcasm, and she’s proud to say they’re even wittier than she.
“Life has continuously challenged my determination and strength and through it all, humour has helped me to prevail”, says Shelley. In 2017, life threw her a curveball. She fell into a deep depression for which she couldn’t see a way out. She began to soul search and stumbled upon a quote from Laura Ingalls Wilder that put everything into perspective. “A good laugh overcomes more difficulties and dissipates more dark clouds than any other one thing.”

“This was my awakening”, says Shelley. “For years I had been dishing out “Keep your chin to the rays, there are far better days ahead than those we leave behind”, yet I failed to heed my own advice in difficult times. I knew deep down that even in the darkest of times, a good old laugh was just the way to escape those dark clouds, even if just for a few moments in time.” She longed for those laugh ‘til you snort moments once again.

Fast forward to 2020 and the year that no one could have predicted. Shelley was loving life again. A seed and idea that had been planted by a dear friend started to grow. COVID-19 granted her the creative time to bring her ideas to fruition. The Prickly Pickle Company was birthed in spring of 2020. What began with shirts your grandma won’t approve of has led to a line of originals, a series of Shelley-isms and one-offs guaranteed to make heads turn. “The Prickly Pickle Company is definitely not your grandma’s pickles and if you’re in the market for a shirt to spark conversations – I just might know a girl. She’s kind of a big dill and relishes the opportunity to bring her sass to your daily grind.”
