This One’s for the Adults!
Hello readers! If you are new here, we’d like to introduce ourselves. We are The Mom & Caregiver magazine. We have been a valued source of parenting information for over 26 years! But guess what? We know that parents aren’t JUST parents – we know that you’re humans, people, women and men who have dreams, desires, challenges and goals in life aside from being a parent.
So in addition to this month’s amazing parenting articles on “Caring for Baby Teeth” (page 6) and “Stranger Danger vs. Tricky People” (page 12), we’re offering articles for the adults out there (notice we didn’t say grown-ups as that seems too parent-y!)
In “Dry Times: Tackling Vaginal Dryness with Care”, women’s health advocate, Carol Peat, discusses a topic that we need to normalize as we age. Find solutions on page 20.
If you’re a person who needs to “Put More Function in Your Holiday Dysfunction”, start planning ahead now by joining Stephanie Preston on page 10. She’ll give you the confidence to say NO to December’s hectic schedule.
Are you purchasing a home this year? Keep it safe by sorting out the mysteries of “Term Insurance vs. Mortgage Insurance” with Amy Skalozub of Kenny Insurance Brokers. Protect your financial future on page 9.
Lastly, we’ll keep you well-fed this fall, ladies and gentlemen. No more chicken fingers and fish sticks to keep the kids happy at dinnertime – no, no! We’re offering up two recipes that will make your sophisticated adult-self smile (but who are we kidding, the kids will love them, too!) Try “Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup” and “One-Pan Roasted Chicken and Vegetables” on pages 5 and 19 this fall. You won’t regret it!
We’d like to end off this month with a moment of remembrance for all those who gave their lives, and who continue to give their time and lives, to bring us the freedoms we enjoy today. Please take a quiet moment to read “Remembrance Day Through our Children’s Eyes” (page 11). Maybe you’ll want to ask your own children these same questions as a way to start a discussion about this important day.
