This is a classic from my days working in daycare, because it focuses on process not product. It is fabulous to let the child have control to create whatever they would like rather than saying “Your piece of art should end up looking like this.” And the process is very fun! Give your child a shallow tray of paint (an old black Styrofoam tray from broccoli is what we used) and a toy car or truck that you don’t mind getting painty. Let them roll the wheels in paint and then push the car across the paper. It’s as simple as that! Don’t forget to put some newspaper under the paper as there will be over-the-edge-driving!
