Spring into Healthy Eating
Spring is the season of fresh starts, warmer weather, longer days and the urge to clear out the old to make way for the new. While many of us tackle closets and garages during spring cleaning, the kitchen is often overlooked.
A clean, organized kitchen makes healthy eating easier and mealtime less stressful. Here’s how to declutter, refresh and restock your kitchen this spring for a healthier, more efficient space.
- Declutter your pantry & fridge
Start with a deep clean:
- Check expiration dates and toss anything expired or stale.
- Look for forgotten items. If you haven’t used it in six months, donate or repurpose it.
- Group like items together. Store grains, canned goods and snacks in labeled containers.
Pro tip: Use clear bins for easy visibility, and keep healthier options, like nuts, whole grains, and veggies and fruits at eye level.
- Refresh your cooking routine
Spring is the perfect time to bring new energy to your meals. Try:
- Meal prepping with color – think vibrant salads, smoothie packs or stir-fries.
- Batch cooking lighter meals – grill extra veggies and protein for easy, ready-to-go meals.
- Trying a new cooking technique – roast, grill or steam instead of heavy slow-cooked dishes.
- Clean & organize cooking utensils
A tidy kitchen makes cooking more enjoyable. Take time to:
- Wash reusable water bottles, lunch containers and cutting boards.
- Sharpen knives for smoother, safer slicing.
- Declutter kitchen gadgets. If you never use it, donate it!
A little spring cleaning can refresh your space and mindset, making it easier to prepare healthy meals and enjoy time in the kitchen.
This season, let’s clear the clutter and make room for fresh, healthy habits!
